What is NEON?
The purpose of NEON is to provide a platform for people to take the major challenges facing Europe and engage with them at a human level.
Climate change, challenges to human rights and the rule of law, democratic backsliding, etc.
NEON will take overwhelming challenges like these and address them through community and collective action.
NEON is for anyone interested in Nyt Europa’s main themes.

As a volunteer group, we expect the majority of members will be students or young professionals. However, we welcome intergenerationally, and believe that all people, regardless of age and background, have valuable experiences, skills and insight to contribute.

Why was NEON created?

To create a platform where people can come together to take on the major challenges facing Europe and engage with them at a human level.

To better integrate volunteers into Nyt Europa’s goals and long-term mission.
Volunteers have always been a crucial part of Nyt Europa. The many conferences, debates, study trips, and other events that Nyt Europa has held over the years would not have been possible without the contributions of great volunteers. At the same time, Nyt Europa has resources to support those volunteers doing something more. These resources primarily take the form of a physical space to host events and a deep network of individuals across the NGO, political, and cultural spheres that NEON members can draw on.
The idea is for NEON to be both an independent community working towards its own goals and a group of individuals interested in participating in Nyt Europa’s many initiatives. To be clear, taking part or volunteering for Nyt Europa events or initiatives is not required to be a member of NEON.
Vision - What will NEON become?
This is entirely up to you and the other NEON members. The most important part of the network is that its members feel a sense of ownership and see themselves in it. The goal of Nyt Europa is to support this effort. We want members to be more than just part of a group, we want them to feel NEON is theirs as well.
Additionally, a key focus of NEON is to provide experiences that build personal and professional skills, such as program design, grant application, public speaking, teamwork, and other LinkedIn-relevant skills.
NEON members are encouraged to come with ideas for events and initiatives! These can be shared in the group chat, at weekly meetings, or sent to Christian directly. Some possible ideas and examples of previous events Nyt Europa has done in the past include:

We will use the already established WhatsApp group as our main method of communication. Email will also be used for relevant updates and information

Monthly NEON Event
NEON will host an event on the second Wednesday of each month. These events will be discussions/workshops focused on building practical skills or gaining experience in areas relevant and interesting for NEON members, such as marketing/communications, how to apply for funds for projects, better understanding of the EU, etc.
Events will take place at Nyt Europa’s offices located in Copenhagen, Denmark, unless state otherwise.

How is NEON organised?
Externally, the Nyt Europa board sets the overarching plans and strategy for NEON, the council offers expert advice and guidance, and the secretariat provides logistical support to NEON members. Internally, as an independent network, members have the freedom to organise and structure NEON as they see fit, provided that organisation is based on mutual respect, inclusivity, shared goals, and acting collectively.
As NEON's facilitator, Christian will serve as members’ primary representative to the other bodies of Nyt Europa.
