why join
the academy?

The Academy of Change is a free of charge hybrid course that trains young people between 18-30 years in current topics such as this year’s overarching theme:
Wellbeing economy.

The shift we need to make to address current issues and challenges depends heavily on the knowledge, ideas, and commitment of young people. The youth hold a great part in influencing and making change around the world. We need new views and methods that birth sustainable solutions to the problems we are confronting. To bring about the change we want to see in the world, we collectively search for solutions and study alternative methods at the Academy of Change.

what can
the academy
offer you?

The Academy is intended for young people who desire more information and resources to reform society and who want to take personal responsibility for making changes. During the course, we will explore the future of economics and discuss what resources we have at our disposal to change how our communities develop. After completing the Academy, you will be well-equipped to make a difference in both your personal social circles and public discussions. Some of the sessions are followed by workshops which aim to prepare you for the Academy's final product: an opinion piece on your chosen subject co-written in a group of fellow participants.

 you are

  • Lectures from experts in the field

  • The chance to set the agenda for future economics

  • You will be part of an interdisciplinary and inspiring network of international young people

  • Workshops to help you voice your opinion through discussions, policy proposals and opinion pieces

  • After the Academy, you will have the chance to participate in forthcoming projects which includes a European Folk High School, field trips, advocacy tours in Europe, conferences and much more

more information

Aside from the age group of 18-30 years, the only qualification for taking part in the Academy is your curiosity and will to learn. Joining the Academy does not require prior knowledge of economics, sustainable change, or political policies, but only that you actively engage with other participants in the discussions and workshops by sharing your thoughts and opinions. It is free of charge to participate in the Academy, but in return we expect you to actively participate throughout the whole course.

Participants are selected based on personal motivation and on creating a diverse and interdisciplinary group. We encourage everyone regardless of gender, religion, or ethnicity to sign up.

our goal

Social inequality, flaws in our welfare systems, unemployment etc. has increased post covid-19, leaving a mark on economies all over the globe. With global crises comes the need for change. A change that questions existing policies and methods inspiring movements everywhere.

In spring 2023 The European Parliament will host a conference on “Beyond growth – Pathways towards Sustainable Prosperity in the EU”, focusing on reframing policymaking in the European Union and how to shift away from the idea that economic growth – that is, the growth of GDP is the only way to measure progress.

With the Academy of Change we wish to inspire new ways of thinking economic progress beyond GDP growth. Through the workshops we will have group discussions, set up policy proposals and get a tutorial on how to write an opinion piece. The aim of the workshops is for the participants to gain confidence in their ideas and opinions, so that you can voice these ideas and opinions to influence the discourse in future forums such as the “Beyond growth” conference in 2023 in the EU.
